Directions
to Holly Cottage from the M27
Parking at this venue is extremely
restricted, so if can you travel by means other than car it would be
helpful, but if you do drive, here are the directions:
If
you are travelling westbound, leave the M27 at Junction 10.
If
you are travelling eastbound, the easiest way is to leave at Junction
11, go around the roundabout and get back on the M27 heading west.
The
next part may seem complicated, even odd, but it really is the
easiest way. Trust me. Exiting from Junction 10,
you will
be heading north on the A32, when in fact you need to be going
south. As soon as you are on the A32, going under the
motorway,
indicate right and move over to the right -hand lane. There
is a
sliproad for right-turns, which is where you want to be. Do a
U-turn into the southbound carriageway, being careful not to end up in
the sliproad that takes you back onto the M27.
If
you really don't like the sound of all that, you can leave the M27
at Junction 11 and follow the A32, signposted to Alton, until you reach
the roundabout described in the next paragraph, but that is more
complicated and takes longer, believe me.
Going
under the motorway again, you reach a roundabout. Take the
right-hand exit, which is a minor road called North Hill.
At
the crest of the hill, turn right into Kiln Road. Follow Kiln
Road straight along until it bends to the right and heads downhill,
becoming Funtley Hill. Once it has passed under the motorway,
the
road levels out and bends to the left, becoming Funtley Road.
Follow
the road along. Go over a humpbacked bridge over the
railway. There is a new housing development on the right hand
side, followed by a group of older houses. Holly Cottage is
the
last of these, and the entrance is just beyond the house.
Just
beyond the house the road goes under a railway bridge. When
you
see that bridge coming up, slow down, because the entrance is very
tight, and it's easy to miss.
